Who does the work
Licensed in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. They cut in the system, set the bypass, and connect the drain. Same crew that handles our water heaters and repipes.
We collect the sample at your kitchen tap and send it out. Lead, PFAS, hardness, bacteria on a well. Results in about a week, and we walk you through them.
Before you buy anything
Most treatment questions are answered by the test. A lot of homes need less than they expect, and a few need more than a hardware-store filter can do. We would rather sell you a $150 test and the right $800 filter than a $4,000 system you did not need.
Reverse osmosis makes very clean drinking water and sends two to four gallons down the drain for every gallon it makes. That is fine at one tap. It is the wrong tool for a whole house.
Filters need changing. Every system we install comes with the schedule written down, and we can put the changes on your home's maintenance plan so nobody has to remember.
Questions we get
- Do I need a test if the city already tests the water?
- The city tests at the plant. Your water then travels through the service line and your own pipes, and in Providence, Pawtucket, and Central Falls a home built before 1986 can have a lead service line or lead solder. A first-draw test at your kitchen tap is the only way to know what reaches your glass. It runs $100 to $300 and takes about a week.
- Whole house or just the kitchen tap?
- If the complaint is taste or a lead worry, a reverse osmosis unit under the kitchen sink solves it for drinking and cooking, from about $600 installed. If it is hard water, sediment, or you want every shower and appliance covered, the system goes on the main line. Plenty of homes end up with both.
- What does the plumber actually do?
- Cuts into the main line after the meter, sets the filter housing or softener with a bypass valve so you can service it without shutting the house down, connects the drain where a softener or reverse osmosis needs one, and runs it. Two to five hours for most systems. Stonelink Plumbing does this work for us.
