About the role
ZenHome Improvements is hiring a Project Estimator to be the bridge between an incoming homeowner lead and a fully scoped renovation ready for the crew. You'll do site visits, source materials, qualify labor, and own the quote from first conversation through homeowner sign-off. We pay a real base plus performance pay tied to the projects you scope and close — so the better you are, the more you earn.
Schedule
Full-time. Mix of office, remote, and homeowner site visits across RI. 40 hours/week with flexibility around appointments.
What you'll do
- Visit properties to scope incoming projects with homeowners
- Build accurate cost estimates: materials, labor, subs, contingency
- Source materials and confirm pricing with vendors
- Qualify and book labor — in-house techs and trusted partner crews
- Own the quote from first conversation through homeowner sign-off
- Hand off scoped projects cleanly to operations and the field team
Requirements
- 2+ years in residential construction, estimating, project management, or trades
- Comfortable on a job site AND at a desk — both halves of the role matter
- Strong with numbers and clear written communication
- Driver's license and reliable transportation across RI
- Authorized to work in the US
Skills we look for
- Reads plans, sketches, and rough scopes — and translates them into a real budget
- Vendor relationships — knows where to call for cabinets, tile, lumber, fixtures
- Negotiates well — protects margin without leaving partners feeling squeezed
- Customer-facing — homeowners trust you because you do what you say
- Comfortable with software — we lean on internal tooling for estimates and pipeline
